2022 Ellerbe
Creek BioBlitz

ESPAÑOL

Ellerbe Creek BioBlitz is Back for 2022!

September 30th-October 9th

Join us as we explore and catalog Durham's beautiful nature.

No experience necessary — Simply take a photo of plant or animal life during the week of September 30th through October 9th and upload it to the iNaturalist app - it's that easy!

An iNaturalist training session will be offered, and you can participate on your own or in small organized groups anywhere in Durham. There will also be hosted organized events at ECWA nature preserves and Durham parks within the Ellerbe Creek Watershed.

How You Can Participate

Step 1: Download the iNaturalist app on your mobile device
The iNaturalist app is free and can be found in the App Store. Our partners at the Museum of Life & Science have created a useful how-to video. If you need more help using iNaturalist, we are offering an interactive Zoom to kick-off BioBlitz week.

Step 2: Discover your local parks and nature preserves to visit during BioBlitz Week
Find and explore green spaces to visit during the week of September 30th-October 9th

Step 3: Start making observations!
Take a picture and upload it to iNaturalist — whether it's in your own backyard or at the park, you can help us gather valuable data about the plant and animal life living in the Ellerbe Creek Watershed.

BONUS: Download kid-friendly activities you can do anywhere!
Download a fun early-education scavenger hunt from ECWA's website or find a set of additional family-friendly nature activities. Also available in Spanish.
