X. serves as a valuable member of our Board of Directors, bringing a wealth of expertise in labor and employment law, serious personal injury, wrongful death, and civil litigation. X. has represented clients across North Carolina in state and federal courts, addressing issues ranging from employment discrimination and harassment to employee discipline and wage and hour matters. His practice includes guiding employers on personnel policies, handbooks, and compliance with various labor laws. X. is well-versed in handling administrative proceedings before agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Labor (DOL), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). His expertise extends to providing legal counsel on workplace discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour issues, making him a sought-after lecturer on these critical topics. Beyond his legal practice, X. Lightfoot is a dedicated leader in various legal and civic organizations. He currently serves as the treasurer for the Capital City Lawyers Association, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Chair for Triangle SHRM, and Co-Chair of Bar Outreach for the North Carolina Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. Previously, he held the position of DEI Chair for the North Carolina Society for Human Resource Management (NCSHRM). He is also an active board member for the Wake County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. Originally from Columbus, Georgia, X. has called North Carolina home since his middle school years when his family moved to the Winston-Salem area. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with concentrations in accounting and finance from East Carolina University in 2014 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor (J.D.), cum laude, from the North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2019. In 2021, X. furthered his commitment to fostering inclusive environments by obtaining a Diversity and Inclusion certificate from Cornell University. In addition to his professional achievements, X. is deeply committed to community service and volunteerism. He volunteers on the FrontLine at Now Church in Chapel Hill and enjoys spending quality time with his family. An avid sports fan, he passionately supports the Georgia Bulldogs football team, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons.
