Terraserver Aerial Photos, Topographical Map, and Urban Area

The US Geological Survey also provides a Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle (DOQ) for Ellerbe Creek from TerraServer (Microsoft Corporation).  A DOQ is a black-and-white mosaic of aerial photographic images.  It can be difficult to discern specific areas on this map and the technology used to create it has been much improved by Google Maps and Google Earth.   Visit the USGS Digital Backyard for more information of USGS maps.

This USGS site provides the following maps selectable via tabs at the top of the display.

Note that the maps show the point at which Ellerbe Creek flows into Falls Lake and are dated February 1999.    You can reposition the map by using the eight directional arrows around the edge of the map and you can zoom in or out using the controls just to the left of the map. Also note that you can enter a new address to reposition the display to another location in the U.S.
